Volunteer at Summit!Dear Summit parents, We have successfully completed the first quarter of Summit Christian School, the LORD is always good. He has placed our teachers, students and parents at Summit to experience a journey with Him. Thank you for all of your help, prayers and contributions to our school. The teachers and I will be reviewing our volunteer sheets this week and you will hear back soon. A new addition to our school is our lunch room, and I have to tell you as one of the parents helping in the lunch room, it is a joy watching our children laugh, talk and help each other. They love the lunch room and the independence they are given. I would like to set up a set lunch room schedule and lunch recess, so what I am asking from each of our parents is if you can commit one day a week and if possible the same day each week, you would be a tremendous blessing. If you can commit a day please respond to the email below with the day you are available; the time would be from 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM. •Please remember to always sign in at the school office and fill out a visitor badge each time you help at school in any area. •Please also always complete a volunteer hours log sheet each time or week you work so that we can track your required volunteer hours. (20 hours a school year per family or 10 hours per single parent)
We have playground rules for each of our parent volunteers to help them understand what is okay and what is not on the playground. We will be holding a parent volunteer orientation meeting within the next few weeks. We will send out this notice and during this orientation parents will receive information about volunteering at Summit and complete all of the paperwork needed to provide the best safety for our children (more information to follow). If you will be driving for a field trip before this meeting please visit me in the school office and I will provide you with the necessary paperwork needed for field trips. Please complete this paperwork at least 1 week before the field trip. Please check with your teacher to see if they could use your assistance until we are able to finalize the details. If you have any questions feel free to contact me, I have provided my information below. May the LORD bless you and your family always. |

Please enjoy getting to know Tana McKaughan….. Child or children and their grade: Karina in grade 7, Kiana in grade 11 Your spouse: Keith Share something about yourself most people would not know: I have one joint in one finger that will not bend (the tendon was severed when I was 3), but the Lord called me to play the piano/keyboard, and here I am!! (But I can’t play the guitar) What church do you attend: Bridgeway Christian Church Favorite book: Loving God With All Your Mind by Elizabeth George- recommended to me by Mary Robertshaw Most passionate about: God- and worshipping Him through music/singing. I love to play keyboards, and sing with a worship team. What job skills has the LORD blessed you with: I teach music theory classes, piano lessons and sometimes voice lessons, from my home, and my husband and I are putting together a recording studio that will be used to honor the Lord. Favorite vacation spot: Pretty much anywhere that has God’s amazing natural creation all around – the mountains, the beach, the forest –I do love places with a warmer climate. Favorite scripture:”Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” – Colossians 3:12-16 What are your hobbies: I like to make crafty things with my kids, give gifts, bake & make stuff from scratch. I love making music with my husband (who plays guitar), and I enjoy learning about what my keyboards can do, and technical gismos, but try keep myself from getting lost in them; ex- Facebook has a time limit! I enjoy writing music sometimes. I love to walk/jog on the bike paths near my house, laugh with my husband, and go for a drive - exploring new places with my family on the weekends. Do you wish for more time in the day or more money and why: Both, in addition to more energy!! (have you ever felt that way?) But I do pray that I will use the resources God gives me wisely. Where is the farthest you have traveled: As a young lady, before I met my husband, I went to London, Bali, and Japan –not sure which is the farthest. How many siblings do you have and do they live near you: I have one brother who is 14 months younger than me. He lives in San Jose with his wife and 3 kids. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up: For a while I wanted to be a concert pianist. When I got saved at age 14, I wanted to use music to glorify God. Where did you grow up: The Bay Area – Saratoga and Cupertino. What is the best miracle you have ever experienced: --Besides my salvation, my marriage, my husband getting cured of cancer, the birth of my two girls, and my husband’s recent promotion in this awful economy??? I am impressed by the miracle of Summit Christian School! God’s hand is so clearly moving in our lives, and I am very thankful! Who made the biggest impact in your life and why: Steve Fry – was the worship leader/youth pastor at Calvary Community Church. He simply led worship and I found Jesus at a “School of the Innercourt” (Youth group). That night, God drastically changed the direction of my life through him, and I’m also thankful that my friend Laura brought me. Favorite movie of all times: “Beauty and the Beast” – I don’t know… there is something wonderfully redemptive in that one! Ideal day off: --With my precious family discovering God’s beautiful creation. –Maybe in Lake Tahoe?
