Climbing toward the SummitThe Beginning Story of Summit Christian SchoolThe Fair Oaks Campus has been educating and encouraging students in the Lord for about 30 years. Most recently located on Hazel Avenue at Grace Bible Church, this school has also resided at Sunrise Community and Redeemer Covenant over the years. On April 30th, 2009, parents, teachers, and administration were shocked at their annual open house when the chairperson of the Board announced the pending Fair Oaks campus closure. At a question/answer session, led by the board, the parents and staff continued to learn that the leadership of the schools (another campus remains in the Carmichael area) were struggling with over three years of financial hardship and the only viable option remaining, in their opinion, was to close down our beloved site. From this meeting, arose a group of parents who were inspired to breathe new life into the campus. Everyone agreed that with a little development and a re-structuring of the framework to become inter-denominational and appealing to believers from many of our local churches, we could rise above and be stronger than ever before. In the midst of today’s economic hardship and moral climate, it is even more essential to offer a solid bible-based learning environment; one that is affordable to families and is within the kind of community Fair Oaks campus has come to embrace. Summit TodayThis school has been blessed with highly-qualified teachers that have invested their time, energy, and love into these students for many years. We have a unique student body that is kind and compassionate to those around them and who enjoy the family they have come to find at school. It is not unusual to walk into a classroom and hear laughter in the midst of a history lesson or a reverent quiet as a fellow student reads from the Word of God or to witness a polite gesture of holding open doors. We are also honored to have an outstanding administrative team in our principal and administrative assistants to facilitate the day to day operations of the school and support the teaching staff and parents, alike. As Summit Christian School develops to become what we believe this community wants and needs, we are experiencing the confirming Hand of the Lord daily. Parents, staff and churches have joined together to make this vision a reality for 2009-2010 school year. Please consider helping us too, by registering your students today, investing financially in the future of our children, or simply sending an encouraging email offering your support. Thank you for praying for us in the days and years ahead! Educational Philosophy"And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart, and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise" (Deut. 6:6,7). Summit Christian School was established in obedience to the teaching of Scripture that all life must be lived in loving submission to the Lord's will, and that the Christian community in general and parents in particular have a great responsibility to educate their children in the love, discernment, wisdom, knowledge and righteousness of their sovereign God. Christian education views each student as an image bearer of God, called to be His servant and called to serve the world in His name. Summit Christian School seeks to partner with Christian parents to accomplish this task which God has assigned. The Bible motivates and regulates us in the development of education for Christian living and Christian service both in Christian community and in society at large. The Bible reveals God's promises to us and tells us that God calls His people to faith in Him. That faith is worked in the human heart by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the source of all enlightenment. Only He can guide the teacher and the student to view all knowledge through Scripture so that they, by faith, can know the truth. Whatever true knowledge we have has been revealed to us by God. He has made Himself known to us through His Son, revealed in the Bible as "God in the flesh, the Way, the Truth, and the Life." God also displays His glory in the heavens and the earth which He has created. "The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork" (Psalms 19:1). This idea is also expressed in Romans 1:20. Our response to this magnificent revelation is an eager desire to learn and to serve. God wants us to be stewards of His creation and ambassadors in His name. Christian education seeks to explore every avenue of learning so that every student may be able to discharge his or her responsibilities faithfully. God has given man, His highest creation, rich endowments of mind and spirit and the joyful commission to roam throughout His universe, to create works of beauty in the arts, to appreciate what is noble and to develop skills - doing all these things in a spirit of wonder and gratitude in the presence of God. Partnering with parents, the faculty and staff are charged with the responsibility of giving close attention to the individual needs and talents of each student. This love and concern of the instructors invites the student to respond to God in faith and encourages him or her to become a loving and obedient disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Each student is challenged to develop his or her talents for the honor of God and the service of fellow human beings in all areas of life. Thus Summit Christian School broadens its influence upon the community in which the student lives. In obedience to our Lord, Summit Christian School aims to implant in the heart of each one of its students that the glory of God is the primary pursuit of all our striving. "Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him." (2 Corinthians 5:9). |

Summit Christian SchoolStatement of FaithWE BELIEVE the Bible is God’s written revelation to man. It is composed of sixty-six books which are divinely inspired and inerrant in all their parts. The Bible is infallible and the final authoritative source for faith and conduct (Psalm 12:6; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). WE BELIEVE there is one true and living God, eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, coequal, perfect in their attributes, each deserving worship and obedience. God is the Creator and sustainer of all things which He miraculously accomplished by the Word of His power in six literal days (Genesis 1-2; Exodus 31:17; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:24; 48:16; John 1:3; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 13:14; Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:2). WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity who possesses all the divine attributes. He is fully God and fully man. He was conceived miraculously through the virgin birth without losing any of His divine essence. He lived a sinless life out of obedience to the Father. His incarnation was for the purpose of revealing God, redeeming men, and ruling over God’s kingdom. He accomplished our redemption through His shed blood on the cross. Three days later He rose from the dead and later ascended to heaven where He sits at the right hand of God waiting to return in great glory and power (Isaiah 7:14; John 1:14, 10:30; Acts 1:9-11; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Revelation 19:11-16). We BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit who is a divine person who regenerates sinful men and baptizes all of them into the body of Christ. He indwells, sanctifies, instructs, transforms, and empowers all believers for service (Romans 8:14-16; 1 Corinthians 2:7-14; 7:19-20; 12:13; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Titus 3:5). WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life [Heaven], and they that are lost unto the resurrection of eternal condemnation [the Lake of Fire] (John 5:28-29; Romans 8:11; Revelation 20:13-15). WE BELIEVE in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation. Due to man’s depravity, he is unable to do or achieve anything that might merit salvation. Man must be justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It is only because of God’s grace and belief in Christ’s atoning work that anyone can be saved from the penalty, power and ultimately the presence of sin (John 3:16-19; Romans 3:23-25; 5:1-11; Ephesians 2:8-9). WE BELIEVE in the spiritual unity of all believers who have been born again through the Lord Jesus Christ and have been placed in the body of Christ, who is the Head of the Church. We hold to the fact God does miracles and heals bodies immediately, without human giftedness. (Acts 5:12; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Galatians 3:26-29; Colossians 1:18). For His creatures, God has instituted marriage as a way for men and women to enjoy companionship. Sexual intimacy is a wonderful gift of God that is only to be expressed between a man and a woman, as defined genetically, within the love and bonds of marriage. Therefore, WE BELIEVE that any form of sexual intimacy outside of marriage is both immoral and a perversion of God’s gift (Genesis 2:24-25; Leviticus 18:1-30; Proverbs 5:18; 6:32; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5; He-brews 13:4). |
